When does paid billing go live?
The tier system is built into the app and the limits are already enforced in code. Stripe checkout is wired and waiting on go-live alongside the consumer launch in early 2026. Waitlist members are invited first and lock in founding pricing for the first 12 months.
Why no in-app purchase?
Subscriptions go through Stripe in the external browser — the same way Spotify, Netflix, and Audible handle it. No 30% app-store tax, no platform lock-in, and you can manage your subscription from any device. The mobile app then refreshes your tier the moment you return.
What happens if I hit my monthly limit?
The app shows you exactly how many scans and chats you have left at all times. When you hit the cap, the next request opens a friendly upgrade screen with the option to bump tiers — no surprise charges, no silently rolled-over usage. Quotas reset on the first of each month.
Can I downgrade or cancel?
Yes — at any time, from the Stripe billing portal linked inside the app. Your tier remains active through the end of the current billing period, then steps down to Free. Your data and cellar stay intact forever — Free still gives you unlimited entries.
What about a yearly plan or a lifetime deal?
Annual pricing lands shortly after launch with a meaningful discount. Founding subscribers — anyone who joins in the first 90 days — get a permanent founders'-rate option on annual that locks the price for as long as the subscription stays active.
What's the Commercial side?
A separate product line for distilleries, distributors, bars, hospitality groups, and brand teams — the same intelligence engine scaled to multi-location operations.
